Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from foodservice buyers and distributors sourcing paper straws and compostable food packaging from Corncomp.
What certifications does Corncomp hold for the EU and US markets?
Corncomp holds ISO 9001:2015, FSC Chain of Custody, BPI Compostable (ASTM D6400), and BRC Global Standard for Packaging Materials certifications. Products are also tested and approved to FDA, LFGB, and EU AP 2002 food-contact standards. Full certificate numbers and verification links are on our Certifications page.
What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
The standard MOQ is 30,000 units per item. For custom-printed products, the MOQ is 50,000 units per item.
What is your standard lead time?
Standard production lead time is around 30 days from order confirmation.
Can you print custom logos or packaging designs?
Yes, Corncomp offers custom printing on paper straws and packaging. Custom-printed orders have a minimum order quantity of 50,000 units.
Can we visit your factory or arrange a video audit?
Factory visits and video audits can be arranged and are handled on a case-by-case basis with each customer. Contact us to discuss scheduling.
Are your products compostable or biodegradable?
Product certifications vary by material. Genuine paper, kraft, cardboard and wood items are FSC certified. PLA/CPLA and bagasse items are certified compostable under BPI (ASTM D6400) but are not FSC (FSC applies only to wood-fiber materials). Pure-plastic PP/PET lids are functional components without compostability claims.
What is Corncomp’s manufacturing capacity?
Corncomp operates an 8,000 square meter manufacturing base, including a 6,000 square meter GMP-standard dust-free workshop, with 60 production lines across straws, cutlery and cups/bowls, and annual capacity of over 2.5 billion paper straws plus a full range of paper bowls, cups, trays and food boxes. Corncomp is also part of a wider manufacturing alliance with two partner factories in Ningbo specializing in paper trays/lunch boxes and PP/PLA injection-molded tableware, extending combined group capacity well beyond Corncomp’s own facility.
Do you ship to Europe, the US, and Australia?
Yes. Corncomp’s distribution channels cover Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and South-east China, with local support from offices in Belgium and New York.
Does Corncomp supply any major global brands?
Corncomp has been a Disney Global Supplier since 2019.
Do you provide samples before a bulk order?
Contact us with your product requirements and we can arrange samples ahead of a bulk order.
Are your products compliant with the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive and PPWR?
Yes. Corncomp’s core straws, cups, bowls, and food packaging are made from FSC-certified paper, PLA, or bagasse rather than the conventional plastic items targeted by the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive (EU) 2019/904. We also track the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40, including its PFAS thresholds and labelling requirements, for shipments into the EU. See our full breakdown of both regulations and a certification checklist for EU buyers in this article.
What percentage of your products are fully compostable?
Across our core catalogue of 44 products, 39 (89%) are fully compostable or biodegradable — genuine paper, kraft, cardboard and wood items under FSC certification, and PLA/bagasse items under BPI Compostable (ASTM D6400) certification. Three products pair a compostable paperboard body with a small functional plastic window or handle (PLA, PET, or PP). Two dedicated plastic lid SKUs (PET/PP), offered for buyers who specifically need plastic-lid compatibility, are not compostable. Certification detail is listed on each product page.
Can you confirm your production environment meets hygiene standards?
Yes. Every Corncomp product is made in our 6,000 square meter GMP-standard dust-free workshop in Ningbo, using food-grade certified materials, with production process control independently audited by SGS. Our facility is also backed by BRC Global Standard for Packaging Materials, FSC Chain of Custody, and ISO 9001:2015 certification. Certificate numbers and verification links are on our Certifications page.
Do your paper straws stay firm without collapsing or unraveling in thick or hot drinks?
All Corncomp paper straws are made from FSC-certified paper, produced in our GMP-standard dust-free workshop, and food-safety tested before shipment. For drinks that put extra strain on straw structure — thick smoothies, boba, or hot beverages — our Solid Color Paper Straw with Bamboo Fiber is reinforced with bamboo/wood fiber for added structural strength. Contact us with your beverage type and we can recommend the right straw.
Are your products PFAS-free?
Yes. Corncomp’s paper straws, cups, bowls and food packaging are manufactured and independently tested to confirm they are free of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) across our paper, PLA and bagasse product lines. Test results confirm compliance with current PFAS restrictions applicable to food-contact packaging entering the EU and US markets. PFAS test reports are available on request for buyers who need documentation for their own regulatory or retailer compliance files.
What is your on-time delivery rate?
Corncomp maintains a 98% on-time delivery rate against confirmed order lead times. Orders are tracked through production and shipment internally, and buyers are notified in advance if any factor could affect a confirmed ship date.
What happens if we receive defective or incorrect products?
Contact us with your order number and photos of the affected items as soon as an issue is identified. Corncomp opens an after-sales investigation within 8 hours of notification, tracing the affected batch through our production and shipping records to confirm the cause and agree a resolution, such as replacement stock or credit, based on the specifics of the case.
How does Corncomp handle supply chain disruptions?
Corncomp maintains an established raw-material supply chain and works alongside a network of partner factories in Ningbo. If any single source is disrupted, we immediately coordinate with our factory partners to secure alternative capacity or material supply, so confirmed orders stay on schedule wherever possible.
Do you support buyers with regional packaging regulations, such as EU PPWR labeling requirements?
Yes. Corncomp holds FSC Chain of Custody, BPI Compostable (ASTM D6400) and BRC Global Standard for Packaging Materials certifications, which support the material-disclosure and labeling documentation buyers need under regulations such as the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40. We can supply certificate numbers, verification links and material composition data so your team can complete the compliance paperwork required for your market.
Is the printing ink used on your products food-safe?
Yes. All custom printing on Corncomp straws and packaging uses water-based ink rather than solvent-based ink, tested to food-contact safety standards at the highest applicable certification level. Test reports confirming food-safety compliance are available on request for custom-printed orders.
What straw diameters and lengths do you offer?
Corncomp’s paper straws are available in six diameters: 5.5mm, 6mm, 7mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm. The 6mm, 7mm and 8mm diameters, our standard drinking-straw range, are offered across the full length lineup from 140mm up to 260mm. The narrower 5.5mm diameter (cocktail/stirrer-style) is offered in shorter lengths, from 140mm up to 197mm, while the wider 10mm and 12mm diameters (for boba, smoothies and thick beverages) are offered in longer lengths, from 197mm up to 260mm. Contact us with your beverage type and cup size and we can recommend the right diameter/length combination.
